Patriarch’s funeral on Thursday in Rakovica Monastery

BELGRADE, Nov 16. (Tanjug). His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Pavle will be buried on Thursday, November 19, in Rakovica Monastery, Bishop Irinej of Backa stated Sunday after the session of the Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC).

According to him, the explicit wish of Patriarch Pavle was to be buried in the Belgrade monastery Rakovica.

Bishop Irinej of Backa said that the Holy Synod made a decision that Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Coastlands will perorm the duties of the Exarch of the Holy Throne of SPC until the election of the new patriarch.

At last night’s meeting of the Holy Synod, which was also attended by Serbian President Boris Tadic, the time of the funeral or the service, which will be served at the Saint Sava Cathedral in Belgrade, was not determined.
