Patriarch Kirill’s condolences over terrorist attack in Peshawar
December 2014
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia expressed his condolences to His Excellency Mamnoon HUSSAIN, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, over the terrorist attack in Peshawar, as the result of which nearly 150 people had died and 150 people had been injured. The text of the message is given below.
Your Excellency, dear Mr. President,
It grieved my heart to learn about a horrible terrorist act – seizure of a school by militants in Peshawar, as the result of which dozens of people died and were injured. The tragedy is aggravated by the fact that most of the victims are children. Please, accept my sincere condolences.
Now matter what stood behind the murderers’ actions, the evil deed they committed cannot be justified. The peoples of the world will never put up with violence as a means of achieving political goals; that is why terrorism has no future.
In these days of sorrow I wish to you, to all those affected by the tragedy and their families, as well as to all the people of Pakistan courage and spiritual fortitude in enduring the ordeal that has befallen you.
With deep condolences,
+KIRILL
PATRIARCH OF MOSCOW AND ALL RUSSIA
