Patriarch Kirill urges Latin America and Russia to build a just world Together

Moscow, September 21, Interfax – Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia believes that Russia together with Latin American countries can build better and just international relations.

“I think our historical record – both of Latin American countries and Russia – has a lot in common, and we could promote our world to become a just one,” Patriarch said at a meeting with the ambassadors of Latin American countries last Friday in Moscow.

He noted that the Russian Church attached great importance to the dialogue with the peoples and countries of Latin America. “In a globalized world, the like-minded people should stick together,” Patriarch highlighted and stated that during his visit to Latin American countries, he had felt with his “heart and mind” that “we are like-minded in many ways.”

According to Patriarch, “our countries have a high level of religious commitment,” and despite any crisis, including the spiritual sphere, “the religious component remains strong both in Latin American countries and in Russia.”

“As long as the religious factor is very important for our countries, I think that we should learn together to pursue such Christian values and such ethics which have become traditional for our countries and in modern international relations, and, most important to the ethical system, we should try to estimate everything that is happening to people and to the human society,” Patriarch said.

He thinks it is very dangerous when the world and any world events are evaluated in pragmatic terms only.
