Patriarch Kirill consecrates the church of Holy Martyr Clement – the Orthodox Pope of Rome

On September 27, 2014, the Day of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia celebrated the Grand Consecration of the church of Holy Martyr Clement, the Pope of Rome, at Zamoskvorechye, and the Divine Liturgy in the newly-consecrated church.

His Holiness was assisted by a great assembly of bishops and priests. Present at the service were benefactors of the church.

After the Ardent Supplication, the Primate of the Russian Church led the congregation in a prayer for peace in Ukraine.

Patriarch Kirill presented the newly-consecrated church with an old icon of the Exaltation of the Honourable and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord.

His Holiness presented a number of clergy with high church awards. He also awarded several secular officials for their assistance in the restoration of St. Clement’s.

The faithful were given small icons of St. Clement with a patriarchal blessing.
