Patriarch Kirill consecrates St.Catherine Cathedral

Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill has consecrated the restored St.Catherine Catherdral outside St.Petersburg, media reports said on Sunday.

The Cathedral was built in 1840 only to be blown up in 1939, when a monument to iconic Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin was constructed at the site. The reconstruction works began in 2005 in a move initiated by a host of public organizations, which urged the population to contribute to the Cathedral’s renovation.
