Patriarch Kirill Celebrated Divine Liturgy at Korets Convent

On August 3, Monday, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Convent of Korets, Rivne region.

Concelebrating with the Patriarch were the hierarchs of the Russian and Ukrainian Orthodox Churches and numerous diocesan clergy.

The service was accompanied by the chant of the nuns and students of the local choirmaster school.

In the course of the liturgy His Holiness conferred the right of wearing of the decorated pectoral cross on hegumeness Rafaela.

Attending the Liturgy were about thousand people of more than 6 thousand population of Korets. The Trinity Cathedral could not hold all those willing and many stood outside, where the big portrait of Patriarch Kirill was installed. Above the monastery gates from the side of the yard there hangs a motto “Bless, Your Holiness!”

After the Gospel readings hegumeness Rafaela thanked the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church for his visit to the abode and the joy of prayerful communion.

Then the archpastoral sermon was read, in which Patriarch Kirill, addressing the nuns of the convent of Korets and all pilgrims, noted that the history of the abode is an example of firm standing in orthodox faith. As a keepsake of the joint prayer His Holiness passed the icon of the Holy Trinity to the Convent of Korets. All the faithful were given small icons of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir.
