Patriarch Irinej: We hold to those truths and values which our ancestors Lived With

During several-days visit to Diocese of Budimlje-Niksic on Saturday, July 30 on the feast day of St. Marina the Great Martyr in the afternoon hours he was visiting Zabljak.

His Holiness, accompanied by Bishop Grigorije of Budimlje-Niksic, before the Cathedral Church of Transfiguration of the Lord on Zabljak, he was welcomed by a great number of the faithful people of this area. Presbyter Milivoje Jovovic, the compotent parish priest welcomed the Head of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Patriarch Irinej held a speech in front of more than a thousand believers. Visibly moved by the gathering of the God’s people His Holiness said that one need Solomon’s wisdom and the eloquence of the bishop Rada in order to describe a n experience of wonderful beauties of Zabljak and surroundings, which is the centerpiece of God’s creation, intended for people to enjoy it, use it and see in it as a finger of their Creator.

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch served the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral Church of St. Basil of Ostrog in Niksic, with the concelebration of His Eminence Amfilohije Archbishop of Cetinje and Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral and Their Graces Bishops – retired Atanasije of Herzegovina, Jovan of Sumadija, Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic, Grigorije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina, newly-elected Jovan of Nis and newly-elected Jovan of Lipljan.
