Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II speaks at ‘Sayfo 1915’ Conference

His Holiness Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II gave the opening speech at the “Sayfo 1915: An International Conference on the Genocide of Assyrians/Arameans during the First World War”.
The conference included papers of about 40 scholars and researchers from universities and institutes throughout the world. It is organized by Prof. Dr. Shabo Talay, Professor of Semitics at the Free University of Berlin.
His Holiness spoke about the importance of commemorating Sayfo inorder to understand what took place in 1915 and to prevent future genocides. He also gave an overview of the various activities that the Syriac Orthodox Patriarchate is organizing in commemoration of the centennial of the Syriac Genocide Sayfo.
