Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II : Reconciliation with Indian Orthodox Church only with the consent of the Holy Synod of the Syriac Orthodox Church in India

Lebanon/Beirut: In a recent press release from Metropolitan Thimotheos Mathews (Vicar for the Malankara Affairs) states that any move for dialogue for peace or unity between the Syriac Orthodox Church and the Indian Orthodox Malankara Church will only be with full consent and approval of the Holy Episcopal Synod of of the Syriac Orthodox Church in India.

The statement also points out that the Patriarch is ready for reconciliation provided that the court cases are withdrawn and disputes are settled. But any sort of reconciliation or dialogue will only be implemented after getting full approval from the holy synod of the Syriac Orthodox Church in India.
