His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel ended the Commemorative Year of the Romanian Orthodox Philanthropists by signing, on the last day of the year, diplomas of merit for 27 public and private medical units in Bucharest and Ilfov and Prahova counties, which treat COVID-19 patients.
The gesture of the Patriarch of Romania is one of honour and gratitude, because the doctor’s activity is par excellence a philanthropic activity, springing from love for others and concern for their health.
“The sacrifice and devotion with which the doctors were in the first line in the fight against this disease show how the love for the suffering neighbour offers unsuspected inner resources; the place of doctors is among the philanthropists who were honoured in the year that has just ended,” said Fr. Ionuţ Tutea, Social Counselor of the Archdiocese of Bucharest.
The diplomas and medals were bestowed to 17 medical units in Bucharest and Ilfov County, as well as 10 hospitals in Prahova County.
