Parishes of the Ugandan Orthodox Church Shuts Down Amid Covid

Kampala -Uganda: Three parishes of the Ugandan Orthodox Church namely St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral, Namungoon, St. Sophia Orthodox Parish, Kibuye, Saalama Road, St. Catherine Orthodox Parish Vuumba, Luweero District were shut down amid rising COVID cases in the country.
The closing down of the parishes came in effect in the light of passing away of Rev. Fr. Ssekyewa Emmanuel the Dean of Central Region of the Metropolis due to Covid. A few other priests have been infected with the virus as well.
Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga – Primate of the Ugandan Church issued the directives to shut down the parishes for a period of two weeks.
