Orthodox Priest beaten in Ukraine
Kiev, June 10, Interfax – Orthodox priest of the local diocese Hieromonk Mikhail (Savin) was beaten in Ukrainian city of Zaporozhye.
The incident took place late in the evening at a bus stop. Three unidentified men came up to Fr. Mikhail dressed in a cassock and started insulting him demanding to take off the cross, website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church reported on Thursday.
The priest did not react on the insults while people standing in the queue (about 20-25 people) were indifferently watching the outcome. Then the hooligans started beating the priest insulting him.
Fr. Mikhail is in a satisfactory condition. According to him, he has forgiven his offenders and is praying for them.
