An orthodox church in the city of Iskenderun, in Turkey’s Hatay province, has hung a sign outside of their church wishing Muslims a happy Eid.
The city of Iskenderun, otherwise known as Alexandretta, in Turkey’s Hatay province has always been known as an example of tolerance.
This has been proved once again, as the Orthodox Christian community has hung a huge sign outside of their church on Sehit Pamir Street, wishing Muslims a happy Eid.
The priest of the church, Dimitri Yildirim, has said that this is a tradition the church has been doing for years. ‘We have been living together in Hatay for years. Celebrating each other’s festivals is part of our protocol.’
The head of the church’s foundation, Can Teymur, mentioned that Eid was a time for peace and brotherhood.
