Orthodox Bishop of Zahumlje-Hercegovina new Chairman of Interreligious Council in Sarajevo

His Grace Grigorije, Bishop of Zahumlje-Herzegovina and Coastlands, was elected as new chairman of the Interreligious Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina on April 21, 2017 in Sarajevo.

Bishop Grigorije, who is also administrator of the Metropolitanate of Dabar-Bosnia, said that at the meeting of the Interreligious Council, that during the past 20 years, working in a spirit of openness, mutual respect and trust, the Interreligious Council BiH has become  an important organization that contributes to the improvement of life for all the peoplese in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bishop Gregory announced that in the next few days the members of the Council would visit places of suffering “of all from all” in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and specifically  on Monday, 24 April, they would will Kazani, Kruščica, Krizancevo Selo and Korićansks Stene. – “On these places, each of us would, according to his own custom, offer a prayer for the souls of the killed people in the place where these people from his religious community were killed,” said Bishop Grigorije, and pointed out that members of the Interreligious Council just by standing on the place of suffering and paying would demonstrate that they respect each victim and oppose any crime.

Bishop Gregory announced that the Interreligious Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina would mark 20 years of its functioning at the National Theater in Sarajevo on June 29, 2017, when it would be demonstrated that this organization consisting of members of different religious communities deserves understanding and every respect.
