Orthodox believers of Thailand get ready for Evacuation

Moscow, October 28, Interfax – Representation of the Russian Church in Thailand starts preparations to evacuation as flood danger increases.

Rector of St.Nicholas Church in Bangkok Archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin), who heads the representation, says the water in the city is increasing and is in several hundred meters from the royal residence, which has never happened before, website of the Synodal Department for Church Charities and Social Service reports.

Shops are selling out drinking water, but St.Nicholas Parish made a supply of drinking water in the beginning of the flood.

The Moscow Patriarchate Representation announced fund raising for victims of the flood. Some of them were given refuge in parochial buildings and provided food free of charge. Three men were sheltered in the Holy Assumption Monastery in Ratchaburi Province and two women in the refectory of All Saints Church in Pattaya.

To collect money several street concerts will be given in the popular among Russian tourists resort Pattaya. The concerts will start from a prayer service for the end of disaster, eight participants in the parochial choir will perform.
