Oriental Orthodox Standing Conference in New Rochelle, NY

The Autumn 2010 meeting of the Standing Conference of the Oriental Orthodox Churches in America convened at St. Nersess Armenian Seminary in New Rochelle, New York on Thursday, Ocrtober 7, 2010. Among the members present were Their Eminences Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Archbishop Yeghishe Gizirian, Archbishop Vicken Aykazian, Archbishop Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim, Archbishop Abune Zekarias and Archbishop Mor Titus Yeldho. Very Rev. Fr. John Meno and Rev. Fr. Joseph Chamoun, both of the Archdiocese of the Syriac Orthodox Church for the Eastern United States, were also in attendance.
Among the issued discussed were the youth of the Oriental Orthodox Churches, the Standing Conference’s web site, the Joint Commission of the Eastern/Oriental Orthodox Churches, the annual Eastern/Oriental Orthodox UN prayer service, Christian Churches Together, Oriental Orthodox Sunday school relationships, the Roman Catholic/Oriental Orthodox United States Consultation, the international Roman Catholic/Oriental Orthodox Dialogue and the yearly Oriental Orthodox Concelebrated Liturgy. During and after lunch, participants shared news from the sister Churches. It was agreed that the Spring 2011 meeting of the Standing Conference will be held on March 10th of the coming year.
