Ordination of Two Monks at Mor Aphrem Monastery in Maarat Saydnaya

On the occasion of Mor Aphrem and Mor Theodoros Day, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo as Mor Aphrem Church in Mor Aphrem Monastery in Maarat Saydnaya.
Their Eminences Mor Selwanos Boutros Al-Nehmeh, Archbishop of Homs, Hama and Environs, Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Vicar of the Patriarchal Archdiocese of Damascus, Mor Timotheos Matthew, Patriarchal Secretary for Indian Affairs, and His Grace Mor George Kourieh, Dean of Mor Aphrem Theological Seminary in Maarat Saydnaya, assisted His Holiness in the Holy Qurobo.
During the Divine Liturgy, His Holiness tonsured the two seminarians Boutros Youhanna Dekermanjian and Benyamen (Yamen) Abboud Al-Abboud, and ordained them as monks.
His Holiness spoke about monkhood as a life of devotion for prayer and meditation as well as the salvation of one’s self.
The two new monks also delivered sermons for the occasion.
