Upon the invitation of His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, the Metropolitans, members of the Holy Synod, gathered at the Patriarchal Residence in Mor Yacoub Baradeus Monastery in Atchaneh, Bikfaya – Lebanon to participate in the Meetings and Sessions of the Holy Synod 2016.
His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II opened the session with a prayer, asking the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to guide the Fathers of the Holy Synod to make the decisions that are for the common good of the Church and the faithful.
His Holiness and the Fathers of the Holy Synod prayed for the return of the two abducted Archbishops of Aleppo, Mor Gregorius Youhanna Ibrahim and Boulos Yaziji.
His Holiness also made a special prayer in remembrance of the late Archbishop Mor Athanasius Aphrem Barsoum.
At the end of the prayer, His Holiness offered his apostolic benedictions and opened the Sessions of the Holy Synod 2016.
