OCYM 2013 calender highlights icons with theme on Moronoya feasts

MUSCAT :Muscat Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka OCYM has released its 2013 calender (Gregorian) with icons or themes featuring the Moronoya feasts or perunnals.

The calendar was released by Metropolitan Dr Mathews Mar Thimothios, Metropolitan of UK-Europe and Africa Diocese, during the church’s Parish Day, on November 2, 2012.

Each sheet carries the icons caricatured and features two months each. Moronoya means related to the Master or the Lord. The feasts are celebrated in commemoration of events and people related to the Lord Jesus Christ and the church. Hence they are celebrated compulsorily by the Indian Orthodox church.

Months of January, February display icons on Theophany and Mayaltho. March and April shows Annunciation and All Sundays, May and June on Ascension of our Lord and Feast of St Peter and St Paul, July and August has icons on Transfiguration of Lord Jesus and Assumption of St Mary, September and October jointly has the Elevation of the Cross , and lastly November and December the icon of Christmas or Yeldo, Nativity of the Lord.

Mammen George , Ahmedabad Diocesan Council member, presented the first copy to Dr Mathews Mar Thimothios. OCYM Vice President Biju George, Joji John, Secretary and other office bearers were also present.
