OBL Request to the Synod Secretary of the Indian Orthodox Church

Copy of the Letter sent on 25th of the August 2009 to Secretary to the Holy Synod of the Indian Orthodox Church Requesting to take steps to publish stamps and coins in the name of St Gregorious of India, the first canonized Indian Saint.

To
His Grace Dr Mathews Mar Severios
Secretary to the Holy Synod
Orthodox Syrian Church of the East(Indian Orthodox Church)

Respected Your Grace

Kindly Consider the Following Suggestions

On Behalf of the OBL Supreme Chancellery we would like to request the Secretary to Holy Synod of the Orthodox Syrian Church of the East to take the necessary steps to publish coins and stamps in the name of St Greogorious of India, the first Canonized Indian Saint. We believe that it would be a great way of honoring St Gregory of India (Parushuda Parumala Thirumeni). Though these suggestions have been put forward several times, we could not act accordingly. Coins and Stamps could be published as part of the Centenary Celebrations of the Catholicate of the East or as part of the Inauguration of the International Cancer Care Center or on any other Important Occasion of the Holy Church.

Hope Your Grace would be kind enough to consider our humble suggestion.

We take this opportunity to offer special prayers for His Holiness Catholicose of the East and all respected members of the Holy Synod.
