Nine top bishops to lead services marking 1025th anniversary of Christianity in Russia

Kiev, July 23, Interfax – Patriarch Kirill of Moscow an All Russia and the primate of the Moscow-governed Ukrainian Orthodox Church Metropolitan Vladimir will jointly preside over worship services in Kiev this week marking the 1025th anniversary of Christianity in Russia, a senior Ukrainian Church spokesman said.

“The primates of nine of the 15 local Orthodox churches will lead the festive prayer on Vladimir Hill in the capital on July 27 and a communion service on Cathedral Square in the Kiev Monastery of the Caves in the morning on July 28. The rest of the six local churches will be represented by official delegations,” Archpriest Georgy Kovalenko, chairman of Synodal Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, told Interfax.
