New Years’ ecumenical meeting in Warsaw

January 11, the ecumenical meeting took place in the Lutheran Center in Warsaw. It was participated by the representatives of the Churches, religious associations, state authorities and many other people involved in the ecumenical movement in Poland.
The participants were:
• Father Gustaw Cieślar (Baptist Church),
• Bishop Jerzy Samiec and bishop Janusz Jagucki (Evangelical-Augsburg Church),
• Bishop Edward Puślecki (Evangelical-Methodist Church)
• Bishop Marek Izdebski (Polish Reformed Church)
• Bishop Wiktor Wysoczański (Polish Catholic Church),
• Bishop Ludwik M. Jabłoński and bishop Włodzimierz M. Jaworski (Old Catholic Church) ,
• Metropolitan Sawa and Archbishop Jeremiasz (Polish Orthodox Church)
• Apostolic nuncio in Poland archbishop Józef Kowalczyk and the President of the Polish Ecumenical Conference Board bishop Tadeusz Pikus (Roman Catholic Church).
Among the guests were the President of the Jewish Community Union Piotr Kadlčik and the members of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Evangelical Allianz, departments and commissions of the Polish Ecumenical Council, science, media, politicians and many others engaged in the ecumenical dialogue. The authorities were represented by the speaker of the Senate Bogdan Borusewicz, the commissioner for equal treatment Elżbieta Radziszewska, premier in the ministry of education Krystyna Szumilas and the premier in the ministry of internal affaires Tomasz Siemoniak. The president was represented by his chaplain father Roman Indrzejczyk.
The president of the Polish Ecumenical Council archbishop Jeremiasz from the Orthodox Church welcomed all the guests. He presented the achievements of the Council in the previous year. Among the most important plans for the coming year he mentioned preparation of the texts for the Week of Prayer for Unity of Christians in 2012, making arrangements for the Euro 2012 championships priestly care, reactivation of the commission for the dialogue with government, conference about migration in Europe and preparation of the new agreement with the ministry of education regarding religion classes.
