New Year Te Deum at the Patriarchate
On the first day of the New Year the Te Deum service is celebrated in the Orthodox Church after the Divine Liturgy of Saint Basil the Great. The Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church decided during the working session of 16 – 17 February 2011 that the Te Deum service should be celebrated after the Divine Liturgy, just like at the pan-Orthodox level and as the tipikonal provisions stipulate (Holy Synod decree no. 381/17 February 2011).
At the Patriarchal Cathedral of Bucharest, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church celebrated the Te Deum after the Divine Liturgy, assisted by a group of priests and deacons, as thanksgiving prayer to God. Further on the prayer for the blessing of the New Year was said.
