Armenian Quarter – Jerusalem: At the end of this month, at the river Jordan bank in Jordan, the Armenian Baptismal Church of St. Garabed will be consecrated.
His Majesty King Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan donated property for the Church to the Armenian Apostolic Patriarchate of Jerusalem, as well as property for other churches at the river Jordan bank.
The building of the Church of St. Garabed, a generous donation by dr. Vicken Garabedian, in memory of his father dr. Garo Garabedian from Jerusalem, is in typical Armenian architectural style.
On the 30th of October the paintings in the Church will be blessed, and consequently also the Baptismal Font will be consecrated.
On the 31st of October, at 10.00 am. the consecration of the Church will take place by His Beatitude Archbishop Nourhan Manougian, the Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem. Official invitations have been sent to the Royal Court, and we hope His Majesty will honour us with his presence.
After the Divine Liturgy, a festive lunch will be held in the nearby Marriot Hotel. Later that afternoon the first christening will take place in the new St. Garabed Church.”
