Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin Welcomes the Resolution Adopted by the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee

April 2014

On April 12, the regular session of the Ecumenical Council of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin was held. During the meeting they reflected on Resolution 410, adopted by the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, recognizing the Armenian Genocide.

On this occasion the Ecumenical Council addressed a letter to Senator Robert Menendez, President of U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, expressing their appreciation to him and the committee members on behalf of the Armenian Church and His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians.

The letter highlights the importance of the adoption of a resolution that recognizes the Armenian Genocide on the threshold of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. It is also noted that this would encourage establishing peace in the whole world, and prevent and condemn crimes against humanity.
