Mother See Initiates Project “Assistance to the Families”
Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin
With the blessings of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, the Christian Education Center of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin in conjunction with the Armenia Round Table Foundation of the World Council of Churches (WCC) launched a project titled “Assistance to the Families”.
With the blessings of Diocesan Primates of the Holy Armenian Apostolic Church, clergy visits are scheduled to be held at public schools, where teachers and parents will participate in open meetings held with the priests. The focus of the meetings are discussions on: the family as the base of society, current challenges facing families, as well as the necessity of healthy Christian families to give reflections on Armenian Church values and the maintenance of family traditions. Students and parents will be provided with religious educational literature.
Prior to the beginning of the project – from December 6 to 8, the priests participated in meetings held in Kecharis, Tsakhkadzor. High-ranking clergy of the Armenian Church, Deputies of the National Assembly, and representatives from the Education Ministry and UNO presented lectures.
The next phase of the project will be implemented in the second half of the 2010-2011 academic year.
