Moldoviţa Monastery Visited by the Patriarch of Romania

On, 22 August 2011, after visiting Suceviţa Monastery, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church visited Moldoviţa Monastery in the commune Vatra Moldoviţei, county of Suceava.

Accompanied by His Eminence Teofan, Metropolitan of Moldova and Bucovina, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel was met by His Eminence Pimen, Archbishop of Suceava and Radăuţi. According to Trinitas Radio station, thanksgiving prayers were said in the church monastery. Afterwards, the Patriarch of Romania delivered a speech in which he showed what attracts the faithful to the monasteries of Bucovina: “The pilgrims do not come here for a certain saint, but for the holy icons and frescoes. It is a pilgrimage to the beauty of the holiness in paintings. The reception of the pilgrims who want to meet the beauty of the saints in paintings is a missionary art of inestimable value, because man, in general, keeps in mind the image more than the words. They are possible converts even if they are not faithful or possible more convinced Christians, greater lovers of the church and holiness through the beauty of the sacred art”.

To end with the visit, His Eminence Archbishop Pimen, thanked His Beatitude Daniel for supporting and promoting the monasteries of Bucovina: “Thank you very much for everything that you shared with us during this visit. Your visit is said to come to an end, but this is not true as this is only a beginning, because as you have already confessed, you have great thoughts for promoting these values of Orthodoxy through the modern means available today. Thank you very much for everything and we apologise for our drawbacks.
