Metropolitan Volodymyr blessed the collection of signatures campaign for return of religious building of the Pochayiv Lavra of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

On November 8 His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine was visited by Archbishop Volodymyr of Pochayiv at the hospital, where he undergoes rehabilitation treatment.
At the request of the Spiritual synaxis of Pochayiv Monastery, Metropolitan Volodymyr blessed to turn to the ruling bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on the collection of signatures campaign for return of religious buildings of the monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
It should be noted that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine registered a bill number 9690 on January 12, 2012, which provides for the return of the religious buildings of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Pochayiv Holy Assumption Monastery and Kremenets Epiphany convent to their rightful owner – the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which were seized by the Soviet state and declared to be her property. This bill has caused a stormy reaction of other religions and different political forces in the Ternopil region, which launched a company to block this law. The claims are made to return the Pochaiv Laura to the composition of the Kremenetskyy reserve from which it was withdrawn in 2003. The collection of signatures was announced among the people of Ternopil region to return the Lavra buildings to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
The spiritual synaxis of Pochaiv Laura decided to appeal to the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in defense of the monastery.
