Metropolitan Sawa recently won publishing contest called “Education Through Books” organized for the fourth time by Russian Orthodox Church. The results were announced on 28 October by Metropolitan Klemens of Kaluzh and Borovo, who is the head of Publishing Council of Moscow Patriarchate.

The awarded book written by Metropolitan Sawa a year ago, was published in Russian and is titled: “Theology, history and life of the Church”. It was published on the 70th birthday of Metropolitan Sawa and the 10th anniversary of his election as the head of the Polish Autocephalous Church of the initiative of Warsaw Orthodox Archdiocese’s Publishing House. It includes articles written by the Metropolitan dating back to the 1960’s and 1970’s, i.e. before his episcopal ordination. Those articles are devoted to different theological matters as well as the history of Polish Orthodox church.

Metropolitan Sawa was awarded with a special prize for “pastoral word”.

The ceremony of awarding prizes to the winners has taken place on 6th November in Moscow during the 8th Church and Social Forum of Publishing called “Orthodox Ruthenia”. Attendees of the forum had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the awarded publications and to meet its authors and publishers. 242 positions were proposed from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Estonia, Latvia and Poland. Awards were granted in 11 categories. The awarding commission has stressed that the number and the quality of proposed publishing is growing year by year, which “bears witness to the rank of the contest and popularity among publishers not only from Russia, but also among foreign publishers.”
