Metropolitan Mar Yulios leads clergymen for Lenten retreat at St Thomas Bishop’s House

AHMEDABAD, Gujarat, India: HG Pulikkottil Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios, Ahmedabad Diocese Indian Malankara Orthodox Metropolitan, successfully led a Lenten retreat for the priests of the Orthodox Diocese. The retreat was held at the Diocese headquarters at St Thomas Bishop’s House, Naroda, Ahmedabad, Gujarat state.
Fr Dr Bijesh Philip, Director of Nagpur-based St Thomas Orthodox Theological Seminary (STOTS), led the retreat session and delivered a message on the occasion.
The Metropolitan presented Fr Bijesh with a memento on the occasion. Fr George Abraham, a senior priest of the Diocese, was also felicitated for completing 25 years of ministry service and as an ordained priest of the holy church. Adv Dr Mathai Mampalli, Sabha-Managing Committee Member and Council Member, also addressed.
Later, Dr Mar Yulios accompanied by Fr Dr Bijesh and other priests, visited Galudan, the Diocese property on the city’s outskirts.
During the coming day, as part of the Lenten season, Dr Mar Yulios will continue with his visit to Ahmedabad Cathedral and chapels on February 11, 12.
During the forthcoming days, visits to various parishes and congregations covering the Saurashtra region of Bhavnagar, Veravel (Somnath), Rajkot, Porbandar, Mottikavady and Jamnagar (Gujarat) have been planned. Also included are Nadiad in Kheda district and Mehsana, in Gujarat, till February 21.
The holy Lenten season began with prayers, Pethrutho meal and Subkono liturgy at the Baroda Mar Gregorios Valiyapally, where His Grace delivered a Lenten message to the faithful during the occasion of Subkono.
