Meeting of Orthodox Bishops in Argentina
December 2014
His Grace Archbishop of Cetinje and Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Litoral Amfilohije, Bishop-Administrator of the Diocese of Buenos Aires and South-Central America, which are in the canonical visit to this Diocese, met with Orthodox bishops in Argentina on 27 November 2014.
During this afternoon Metropolitan Amfilohije visited Bishop Leonid of Argentina and South America (Moscow Patriarchate), Metropolitan Tarasiy of Buenos Aires and exarch of South America (Ecumenical Patriarchate) and Metropolitan Silouan (Moussi) of Buenos Aires and Argentina (Patriarchate of Antioch).
With bishops the Metropolitan exchanged opinions on current position of the Orthodox Church in Latin America and plans for promotion of the inter-Orthodox cooperation. His Eminence specifically discussed with Bishop Leonid about the possibilities of close cooperation with regard to a parish in Santiago, Chile; about which he also had spoken with Bishop John of Caracas and South America (Russian Orthodox Church Abroad) the previous day.
Metropolitan Amfilohije in all talks stressed a need for the inter-orthodox cooperation in order to testify uniquely the truth of Orthodoxy on the South American continent. They also discussed during these meetings about a recent meeting of the Conference of Orthodox Bishops, held in Lima, Peru last month.
The Metropolitan presented to all bishops an icon of Saint Basil of Ostrog, first two issues of the magazine of the Diocese of Buenos Aires and South-Central America “Holy Apostle Jakov Alfeyev”, a translation of the Mountain Wreath in Spanish, as well as a few copies of little Serbian-Spanish calendar, which has been printed by the Diocese of Buenos Aires for two years.
