Presov-Slovakia: “Many Christians had crucifixes or crosses around their necks, on walls in their homes, in their cars and in their pockets but had no real relationship with Jesus” stated Pope Francis while speaking to over thirty thousand people in Presov, Slovakia on the 14th of September 2021, reports Reuters .
The Pope urged Christians not to use cross as political symbol and refrain from using their religion for political gains. Francis further stated that “Let us not reduce the cross to an object of devotion, much less to a political symbol, to a sign of religious and social status”. In Presov, the Pope presided over Eastern Liturgy in the Byzantine rite together with other Eastern Catholic prelates.
