Majority of the Georgians Approve the Special Legal Status Granted to the Georgian Orthodox Church

Tbilisi -Georgia: The majority of the Georgian people (62%) approve the special legal status Granted to the Georgian Orthodox Church, according to a recent survey by the Future of Georgia opinion poll. However 19% disagree, and 17% remain undecided on the special status of the Church.
Around 80% of the people agreed that the Georgian Orthodox Church promotes the preservation of moral values in Georgian society and 79% stated that the Georgian Church is the most important foundation of the Georgian identity. Around 50% of the Georgians agree that the Georgian citizens should be Orthodox Christians, whereas 47% disagree with such a norm.
