KYIV. Metropolitan Volodymyr conferred the Order of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
On August 25 Metropolitan Volodymyr at his residence at the Kyiv Caves Lavra received the leaders of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Marking the deserts of servicemen to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the Archpastor conferred on them ecclesiastical awards. In particular, His Beatitude conferred on the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Colonel-General Gregory Pedchenko the Order of the HGoly and Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir, and on Assistant to the Chief of General Staff Col. Sergei Borysenko – the Order of the Holy Great Martyr George.
Thanking for the awards, Gregory Pedchenko wished His Beatitude Volodymyr strength and power, and assured that in future he also will work for the benefit of the Holy Orthodox Church, the Ukrainian state and its people.
Also, the Chief of General Staff greeted Metropolitan Volodymyr on the anniversary of Independence of Ukraine and conferred the plaque of the Chief of General Staff and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine “For the Service to the Armed Forces of Ukraine” on Metropolitan Volodymyr. Besides, Gregory Pedchenko presented the Primat with the first copy of the sign of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Metropolitan Volodymyr wished the military servicemen God’s help in difficult service to the Ukrainian people.
