KHATCHIK BABIKIAN FUND OF THE CATHOLICOSATE OF CILICIA ANNOUNCES ITS PRIORITIES TO FURTHER THE 2009 YEAR OF YOUTH
Khatchik Babikian, long time President of the National Assembly and Executive Council of the Catholicosate, Member of the Lebanese Parliament and well known Lawyer, had bequeathed before he died a sum to the Catholicosate asking His Holiness Aram I to create a Foundation. According to the desire of Khatchik Babikian part of the income from the funds would be used for the educational, cultural and humanitarian activities of the community in Lebanon.
At its recent meeting the Board announced four priority areas touching the lives of youth and inviting young students to contribute through essay contests on: Religious and ethical issues; research on Armenian history; Armenian language and literature. The fourth priority ‘Armenian song’ is open to all young people ages 16-30. The Board has also nominated a committee to supervise the work in each of these areas.
The four priorities of Khatchik Babikian Fund will enhance the work of the Catholicosate that began with the announcement of 2009 the “Year of Youth.”
