Irish Priest Compares Roman Catholic Church to the Taliban

Ireland: Fr Roy Donovan, the parish priest of Caherconlish and Inch St. Laurence in Limerick, Ireland, has spoken against the Roman Catholic Church by comparing it to the Taliban. ‘Women have no vote in the upcoming Bishops’ Synod 2023 on Synodality. ‘The Catholic Church at many levels, like the Taliban, treats women as second-class citizens’ stated Fr Donovan according to a report by xtra.ie.
Fr Roy made his statement in response to a statement titled ‘Change taking shape as greater lay involvement in the Church emerges’ by Bishop Brendan Leahy of Limerick. Fr Roy is of the opinion that the Bishops call for men over 35 to become deacons will push the Catholic Church to dark ages. He also pointed out the attempts by the Taliban militants to exclude women form education, job and public affairs.
According to Fr Roy the Church ordained women until the 12th century. However, their services have been limited to monasteries since then.
