Sputniknews – 28/8/16
Indonesian law enforcement officers on Sunday detained an alleged follower of the terrorist group Daesh during his attempt to carry out a suicide bombing in a Catholic church, a spokesman for the country’s National Police said.
BALI (Indonesia) (Sputnik) – Earlier in the day, the suspect unsuccessfully tried to stab a priest and to attack the church in the northern Sumatran city of Medan. “We have seized a backpack from the perpetrator. The perpetrator is alive and injured and there are no casualties in this incident,” Insp. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar said, as quoted by the Jakarta Globe.
He added that following the incident, police found a drawing that looked like a Daesh flag. Indonesia, the largest Muslim country in the world, is home to a large number of Daesh fighters; the terrorist group has been condemned by Russia and other countries around the globe.
