Indian Orthodox Leads in Women’s Empowerment as Bangalore Diocese holds Leadership Training Programme

BENGALURU-INDIA: The Malankara Orthodox Marth Mariam Vanitha Samajam (MOMMVS) held a two-day leadership training programme on January 30, 31, 2019 at the National Biblical Catechetical and Liturgical Centre (NBCLC), Bengaluru.

The training programme was hosted by Bangalore Diocese under the theme on ‘Kshemayude Lavanyam’ from Ephesians 4:32 which states “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other….”

Large number of Marth Mariam Vanitha Samajam, the women’s wing of the Indian Orthodox Churhc took part in the two-day training programme.

HG Dr Abraham Mar Seraphim, Bangalore Diocese Metropolitan, lighted the lamp and delivered the inaugural address and also the devotional address. HG Yuhanon Mar Policarpos, Angamaly Diocese Metropolitan, and Akhila Malankara MOMMVS President, delivered the presidential address.

Various classes were handled by resource persons like Dn Job Sam Mathew and Prof Mary Mathew, General Secretary, MOMMVS.
The training programme began with Bible reading by Mariamma Mathew, MMVS Regional Secretary, Hyderabad Region, with a welcome speech by Leela Zachariah, MMVS Secretary, Bangalore Diocese.

Felicitations were from Fr Santhosh Samuel, Diocese Secretary, Bangalore Diocese, and Fr Mani K Varghese, Vice-President, MMVS Hyderabad Region, while Omana Mathew, MMVS Regional Secretary, Bangalore Diocese, delivered the vote of thanks on the first day.
On the concluding day, January 31, there was a presentation of activities from various secretaries representing the dioceses.

Singing sessions, group discussions, group findings, interaction among the members, group findings, and business sessions were part of the training programme.

During the valedictory, Fr Mathew Varghese delivered the welcome speech and vote of thanks from by Prof Mary Mathew.
Certificates were distributed to all the participants.

Fr Mathew Varghese Pulimoottil, Vice President, MOMMVS, Mariamma Chacko, Joint Secretary also took part.
