Indian Orthodox Delegation at the Oriental Orthodox and Roman Catholic Theological Dialogue

Indian Orthodox Church delegation took part in the eighth Oriental Orthodox and Roman Catholic Theological Dialogue held from 24-29 January 2011, Vatican. The Indian Church was represented by His Grace Metropolitan Mor Gregorious Gabriel of Trivandrum (President of the Department of Ecumenical Relation) and His Grace Metropolitan Mor Demetrius Yuhanon (Asst. Metropolitan of Delhi Diocese).
Representatives of six Oriental Orthodox communion comprising the Armenian, Coptic, Syrian, Ethiopian, Indian and Eritrean Churches were present for the occasion.
On 25 January the representatives of the Oriental family of churches met to discuss the agenda. In the same evening they attended the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, presided over by Pope Benedict XVI at the Basilica of St. Paul Outside-the-Walls. During the following three days, the Joint Committee discussed the theme “Communion and Communication among the Churches before the Middle of The 5th Century: The Role of the Clergy.”
The meeting ended with a dinner offered by the newly appointed President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity (PCPCU), Cardinal Kurt Koch. On the 28th of January the members of the dialogue commission met with the Pope. The Ninth Theological Dialogue will be held 16-23 January 2012 in Ethiopia.
