In Defense of Christians Meets Assyrian Church Leaders in Chicago

In Defense of Christians traveled last week to Chicago for meetings with religious leaders and activists from the city’s Middle Eastern Christian Diaspora communities. Multi-denominational gatherings highlighted the need for unified Diaspora action at this critical time, when Christians across the Middle East are confronting grave threats and widespread humanitarian need.
After several constructive events, including meetings with Bishop Mar Paulus Benjamin and Bishop Gewargis Younan, IDC attended the Lebanon Independence Day Dinner and Hafli, a fundraiser for Christians in the Middle East hosted by Our Lady of Lebanon Church.
On Sunday, IDC spoke at several Chicago churches: Saint Odisho Church (Ancient Assyrian Church of the East), Saint Afrem Syriac Orthodox Church, and Saint John the Baptist Greek Melkite Catholic Church.
IDC will soon return to Chicago to deepen relationships and form new ties with more Diaspora communities and parishes. In the coming weeks, IDC will also visit the Diaspora in New York City and Detroit.
