Holy Synod of Georgian Orthodox Church releases Statement
2010.05.08
The Holy Synod of the Georgian Orthodox Church asks all political parties not to use the authority of the Patriarch and the Church for their own political interests, the statement released by the Georgian Patriarchy says. The synod released the statement before the incident occurred in Kavkasia TV station, when debates turned into a scuffle.
Meeting of the Holy Synod headed by Georgian Catholicos Patriarch Ilia II was held last night. The Synod members discussed different issues at the meeting.
`Loss of territorial integrity, attempts of breaking nation`s unity, release of drugs, propaganda of infidelity, immorality and pathological perversion create the greatest danger to the country. According to the clerical legislation, those who order or carry out similar actions, impose on themselves a severe punishment that is anathematization`, the statement says.
