On July 24 in Dnipropetrovsk His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia visited the State Enterprise “Production Association Yuzhny Machine-Building Plant named after A. Makarov” (YUZHMASH). At the entrance to the territory of the plant His Holiness was met by head of the regional state administration A.Vilkul, chairman of the regional council E.Udod, director general of the National Space Agency of Ukraine Yuri Alekseyev, chairman of the city council I.Kulichenko, director general of YUZHMASH V.A.Shchegol.

In the central alley of the plant the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church laid foundation of the Church of Resurrection of Christ. The foundation certificate was signed by His Holiness patriarch Kirill, Metropolitan Iriney of Dnipropetrovsk and Pavlohrad, city and region executives, director general of the enterprise. Following the prayers the capsule with foundation certificate were laid into the foundation of the future church of the plant.

Present at the solemn ceremony also were Chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchy Metropolitan Varsonofy of Saransk and Mordovia, chairman of the Department for External Church Relations Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokalamsk, Metropolitan Iriney of Dnipropetrovsk and Pavlohrad, Metropolitan Hilarion of Donetsk and Mariupol, Archbishop Efraim of Kryvyi Rih and Nikopol, abbot of the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra Archbishop Theognost of Sergiev Posad, Bishop Metrophanes of Horlivka and Slavyansk, chairman of the administrative Secretariat of the Moscow Patriarchy Bishop Sergy of Solnechnogorsk, Bishop Evlogy of Novomoskovsk, chairman of the Synodal Information Department V.R.Legoyda, chairman of the Synodal Department for Church-Society Relations archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, representatives of the administration and co-workers of the plant.

His Holiness offered an icon of the Savior as a gift to the church at the plant. Его “May god’s blessing rest on the workers of this enterprise, on their family members and everyone who will attend this church and raise prayers in it”, wished His Holiness Patriarch Kirill.

In remembrance of his visit to the plant and laying of the foundation of the enterprise’s church, His Holiness blessed to distribute the icons of the Holy Hierarch Tikhon, Patriarch of All Russia, stating: “He was elected to the Patriarch’s throne in the time when the historical life of the country was destroyed, when the heavy clouds of social disturbance were imminent, when the Church stepped on the path of martyrdom and confession”.

“Today, unlike those who lived that time, we know how that way ended – it ended up with the glory of martyrs, victory of faith and total failure of those who wanted to build human happiness without God”, His Holiness continued: “may the memory of the Holy Hierarch Tikhon help us, to make the most important conclusion for all of us and everyone in person, being aware of what happened to our people. May God stay with us, multiplying our human forces. God save all of us!”
