In completion of his visit to Kyiv His Holiness Patriarch Kirill called to the Holy Protection Convent
On July 29, the third day of the pastoral visit to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill called to the Holy Protection Convent in Kyiv. The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church was accompanied by Deputy Administrator of the Moscow Patriarchy Archbishop Vasronofy of Saransk and Mordova, chairman of the Department of the External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Archbishop Hilarion of Volokalamsk, Administrator of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Archbishop Metrpohanes of Bila Tserkva and Bohuslav.
At the monastery gates His Holiness the Patriarch was welcomed by the abbess and nuns of the Holy Protection Convent, clergymen and faithful.
At the church of St. Nicholas of Myra, the Holy Hierarch and Wonderworker His Holiness bowed unto the shrines of the convent. One of the main shrines is considered to be the copy of the Icon of the Mother of God of Pochayiv, through the prayers to which its founder Great Princess Alexandra Petrovna was healed.
Hegumeness Callisthenia (Shamailo) addressed His Holiness with the words of greeting and gratitude. She gifted the icon of the Mother of God of Kazan to the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.
His Holiness addressed all those present in the church with an archpastoral word. As a keepsake of his visit he donated to the church the copy of the Icon of the Mother of God of Kazan, which he brought from Moscow.
The program of stay in Kyiv ended by the visit of His Holiness Patriarch Krill to the capital of Ukraine – on the same day His Holiness set off for Donetsk.
