Romanian Orthodox Church

His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, surrounded by bishops, priests and deacons, has celebrated today, September 8, 2009, the consecration of the church of the skete with the feast days of the Elevation of the Holy Cross and the Birth of John the Baptist located at Ioan’s Glade, which is dependant upon the Sihastria Monastery. The consecration is part of the canonical visit of His Beatitude in the Metropolitanate of Moldavia and Bukovina.

After the religious service, His Beatitude Daniel addressed a sermon about the tradition, in the Orthodox Church, according to which on the day of the consecration of a church all faithful, men and women, can enter the Holy Altar, to venerate the Gospel, the Holy Cross and the Holy Table. His Beatitude also lauded the efforts of all those who contributed to the building of the skete at John’s Glade.

The Skete at John’s Glade was built between 1995-2009. The construction was made possible through the efforts of the monastic community at Sihastria Monastery.
