His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel At The Celebration Of The Dedication Day Of „Saint Mina” Church, Patriarchal Chapel
At the church of “Saint Mina – Vergu”, the manifestations designed to celebrate the dedication day of this place of worship continued tonight with the officiation of the Vesper united with the Litany, followed by the Akatistos of Saint Great Martyr Mina. His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, was in the middle of the faithful who had come to pray the relics of the celebrated saint – informs Trinitas TV station. His Beatitude delivered a sermon for all those present.
“On 9 November we celebrate Saint Nectarie, a healer saint who lived in the 20th century. On 11 November we celebrate Saint Great Martyr Mina, the miracle worker. These two saints complete each other because Saint Nectarie is a healer, but Saint Mina is a saint who helps those who suffered losses, injustice, who are desperate, as you have already heard in the Akatistos read tonight, said His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel.
Saint Great Martyr Mina is an example not only of firm faith, but also of justice.
“The Akatistos of Saint Mina reads: “Rejoice the light of the damaged. Rejoice the hand that discovers the robbing”, so he finds the thieves, those who wrong their fellow beings. “Rejoice the finder of the lost things”, so that when somebody loses a thing, either stolen or lost due to neglect, Saint Mina is very often the one who finds the lost things”, also said His Beatitude.
The Christians feel Saint Mina close to their soul, so that he is often called, through prayer, to help in time of trouble.
“Rejoice the adviser of the travellers who ask for your help. Rejoice the rescue of the ships in the storm. Rejoice good doctor”, so he is a healer too. We also read “Rejoice just judge”. Saint Mina is a very useful, much helper saint”, added the Patriarch of Romania.
The miracles that Saint Mina works are the proof of the presence of God’s Saints in our life.
“We see that God works through His saints and differently through every saint. The Saints have something common in their work, because the same grace of the Holy Trinity works in all saints, but the way in which they show their sensitiveness, the sense of justice, of mercy, makes these saints be like a flower different from another, but gathered together in the bunch of the Church, in the communion of the saints, making up beauty beyond understanding”, said the Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
The faithful may pray the relics of Saint Martyr Mina laid under the canopy in the yard, even during the night time, and tomorrow morning the Divine Liturgy for the dedication day will be celebrated.
