His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr Consecrated Restored Chapel at Near Caves of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

On December 22, the commemoration of the Conception by the Righteous Anna of the Most Holy Theotokos, His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Conception of St Anna at the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

Concelebrating to him were: Deputy Abbot of the monastery Archbishop Pavel of Vyshgorod, Secretary for the Primate of the UOC Bishop Alexander of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyy and the monastery clergy.

Following the divine office on the part of the Lavra’s brethren His Eminence Pavel greeted Metropolitan Volodymyr on the dedication day and thanked him for his Primatial prayers and the personal life witness, due to whom the Kyiv-Pechersk abode is being revived, and, in particular, St Anna’s Conception Church, dedicated about a year ago.

In his word the Archpastor remembered as he came there almost every day with the monastery abbot during the reconstruction of the Church of St Anna’s Conception and prayed for its successful completion. Also the Primate wished that the believers, taking care of the restoration of the man-made churches, should not forget their internal ones, which are the temples of their immortal souls.

Thereafter Metropolitan Volodymyr consecrated the restored church on the crypt of Alexander Bezak (1800-1868), in the territory of the near Caves of Lavra.

REFERENCE. The restoration works were executed by the costs of the head of the State Tax Administration of Ukraine Serhiy Buriak, and of the people’s deputies Alexander Buriak and Vitaly Khomutynnik.

The sponsors gifted His Beatitude with the ancient icon of the Synaxis of the Venerable Fathers of the Kyiv Caves.

For the two years the complex restoration works were carried out in the chapel: the foundation was fixed, the building straightened, the new gilded dome installed, the decorations renewed. After consecration the brethren’s reading of the Vigilant Psalter will be renewed.
