His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch Of The Romanian Orthodox Church, Was Awarded The Title Of “Doctor Honoris Causa” By The University Of “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” Of Iasi

On 15 October, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, was awarded the title of “Doctor Honoris Causa” by the University of “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” of Iasi. The event took place in “Mihai Eminescu” Aula Magna of the University of “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” of Iasi, informs Trinitas Radio station.
Further on, the Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church thanked the University of “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” for the title awarded and His Eminence Teofan, and the commission members who drafted “Laudatio”.
“We thank the University of “Alexandru Ioan Cuza”, and especially the Senate and Rector of this University, Mr. Vasile Isan, for the honour did today to us and to the Romanian Patriarchate by awarding the title of “Doctor Honoris Causa” of this first University of Romania and of a University to which the Faculty of Theology was co-founder.
“This is why I would like to thank especially His Eminence Metropolitan Teofan for “Laudatio”, and all those who contributed to its drafting for having remembered the most important parts of the key opening speech of the Faculty of Theology of Iasi”, said His Beatitude.
After his thanksgiving speech, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, delivered the lecture prepared for the occasion entitled “The Church Autocephaly: Unity Of Faith And Freedom Of Leadership”.
This is the second “Doctor Honoris Causa” that the Patriarch of Romania receives on behalf of a University of Iasi, after the one awarded in 2006 by the University of Arts of “George Enescu”.
