“For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord, begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints…” (2 Corinthians 8:3)

Dear Friends,

With the blessing of His Grace, our Bishop Benjamin, and the support of our treasurer, we are now collecting funds to go directly to the Orthodox Church of Japan. These gifts are an offering of love from our people and parishes around the world to the Church of Japan to help directly with the specific needs of the churches – rebuilding, aid for families, and other assistance.

The Church of Japan was founded in 1861 by St. Nicholas. The Church currently has 2 bishops, about 20 priests and 67 communities (churches and missions) throughout the country, and fewer than 10,000 people. Look for updates from Fr. George Matsushima on the Western Diocese’s website at http://www.orthodox-jp.com/westjapan/.

With the exception of Paypal transaction and wire transfer fees, 100% of money collected will be wired to the Orthodox Church of Japan. We can provide you with a receipt for your tax-deductible donation. Clicking the Paypal button on this page will automatically designate your gift for this purpose, and you do not need a PayPal account to donate online with a credit or debit card.

We will be accepting donations for Japan through May 21st. We don’t have a particular donation goal or target in mind, but will send whatever we can!
