MA`ARAT SAYYIDNAYA, DAMASCUS: Greek Melkite Catholic Patriarch of Lebanon, His Beatitude Gregorios III Laham visited His Holiness Patriarch Ignatius Zakka I Iwas at St. Ephraim’s Patriarchal Monastery here on April 11, Sunday. His Beatitude is accompanied by the members of Pontifical Mission in the Middle East. His Eminence Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, Cardinal Secretary of Vatican State is leading the Mission. Their Eminences Metropolitans of Greek Melkite Catholic Patriarchate is accompanying the Patriarch.
The delegation was welcomed by Metropolitans Their Eminences Mor Philoxenos Mathias Nayis (Patriarchal Assistant) and Mor Dionysius Yuhanon Kawaq (Director – Patriarchal Office) at the monastery. The Pontifical Mission is commissioned by His Holiness Pope Benedict XIV to study the situation of Christians in Middle East. Cardinal Bertone referred the ecumenical relations between the churches in Middle East as a model to the whole world. His Beatitude Gregorios III Laham briefed His Holiness about his recent visit to Malankara to attend the Syro – Malankara Rite Metropolitan consecration of four monks held at Trivandrum on March 13, 2010.
