Georgian Patriarch urges Dialogue

In a sermon in the main Orthodox cathedral of Tbilisi Sunday, the Georgian Patriarch Iliya II urged the government and the opposition to end their confrontation and lend an ear to each other. He said only meaningful discussion, and not street battles, can bring forward solutions to burning problems.
Back on Wednesday night, riot police used batons, water cannon and tear gas to break up a Tbilisi rally against President Mikhail Saakashvili. Two people died, and dozens received injuries.
